It’s your world.
We’ll help you explore it.

Ideas come alive with simulations & animations built into your lessons.

Simulations and animations

Explore the ideas in your lessons visually.

Interactive simulations are built into the lessons. Change a circuit and compare current and voltage readings, or adjust two waves to see how they combine. Try different settings before moving on to practice questions.

Radius r4.5 m
Period T6 s
Mass m2 kg
Speed

Circular and projectile motion
Use the lesson simulations to explore how speed and launch angle affect motion.

Your AI Tutor

Get help with the lesson you are working on.

Ask about the lesson you are viewing in your own words. In Problems, the tutor can also see the open question and your work. It can help you understand a difficult step or offer a hint so you can continue yourself. Graphs can appear directly in the conversation.

Explain it another way
Circular motion
Why does doubling the speed need four times the force?
Picture taking the same bend twice as fast. Your speed is twice as large, and its direction changes twice as quickly. The inward force must be four times as large.

Lessons & Practice

Worked examples help you prepare for exam questions.

Each topic has a short lesson with worked examples to show how the method is used. Practise with exam-style questions and review feedback on your answers. Question Studio lets you create a problem and get feedback on your solution. Lessons are available in 21 languages.

Worked example
A 0.5 kg ball on a string moves in a circle of radius 0.8 m at 3.0 m s⁻¹. Find the centripetal force.
1Write the relationship you need.F = mv² / r
2Put in what the question gives you.F = 0.5 × 3.0² / 0.8
3Work out the top line first.0.5 × 9.0 = 4.5
4Divide, then give the unit.4.5 / 0.8 = 5.6 N
Then the same question with the numbers changed, for you to try.
